FAQ

What is the difference between the deluxe and standard Threshing Day?
The deluxe first edition has 16 full-color illustrations by Joe Requeza and is sold only in the US and Canada while supplies last. The standard edition, listed for October 13, 2026, has 16 black-and-white illustrations by the same artist.
Is there a UK edition of Threshing Day?
Yes. Piatkus (Hachette UK) published a limited deluxe edition on September 29, 2026 with 16 color illustrations and silver-gilded edges, priced at £22. Hachette says a standard edition with black-and-white artwork follows under a different ISBN once supplies run out.
What is the Threshing Day dramatized adaptation?
It is a GraphicAudio audio drama adapted from the book, with a 39-actor cast, sound effects, and music, running about 5.5 hours. It is separate from the full-cast audiobook with 14 narrators, and it is listed for October 13, 2026.
Does the Threshing Day ebook include the illustrations?
Retailers advertise the illustrations for the print editions. Some readers report that the ebook has no color plates, so check the listing before you buy if the artwork matters to you.
How many pages is Threshing Day?
The hardcover is listed at 224 pages on Amazon.ca and Indigo. The Kindle listing says 208 pages.

Which Threshing Day Editions Exist?

Threshing Day (the Wing and Claw Collection, Empyrean #3.5) is sold in several editions that share the same thirteen stories and differ in artwork, finish, and stock. Everything below was checked against publisher and retailer listings on October 8, 2026.

The release date and the reasons the book matters are covered in our release date guide; the retailer links are in the where-to-buy guide.

Deluxe or Standard: Which One Should You Buy?

The direct answer: buy the deluxe if you want the color artwork and can find it in stock; otherwise the standard edition gives you the same stories. The publisher copy for both editions lists the same thirteen cadets and describes the difference as the artwork: sixteen original illustrations by Joe Requeza, in full color for the deluxe and in black and white for the standard edition.

Two practical points:

  • Stock is the constraint. The US and Canada deluxe is described as available “while supplies last,” and for the UK, Hachette says that once supplies of the limited deluxe run out, a standard edition with black-and-white artwork follows under a different ISBN. As of October 8 the deluxe was priced at C$26.23 on Amazon.ca (list price C$34.99), and Barnes & Noble listed its special hardcover at $24.99.
  • The stories do not change. If you only care about reading the collection, any edition works. The spoiler situation is the same either way: the publisher says it is best read after Onyx Storm, which our spoiler guide explains.

What About the “Sprayed Edges” Editions?

Some early coverage described sprayed-edge editions at Target and Waterstones. We could not confirm a separate sprayed-edge edition from a publisher or retailer product page. What the publisher does say is that the UK limited deluxe has silver-gilded edges. If edge treatment matters to you, confirm it on the product page of the exact listing you are buying.

How Many Pages Is Threshing Day?

The hardcover is listed at 224 pages on Amazon.ca and Indigo, and the Kindle listing says 208. An earlier figure of 176 pages circulated, but we could not find it on a publisher page. Either way, this is a short-read collection rather than a full-length novel.

Audio: Full-Cast Audiobook vs Dramatized Adaptation

The two audio products are different things:

  • The full-cast audiobook is the book read aloud by a cast of 14 narrators, each voicing a POV character, according to the Audible listing.
  • The dramatized adaptation is a GraphicAudio production: an audio drama with a 39-actor cast, sound effects, and music. It is listed for October 13, 2026 and is rated for ages 18+.
