FAQ

What do you do with the two green dragons in Dragonkind?
Players report that you should pick one dragon, lower your eyes, turn toward it, and hold your ground. Staying neutral or glancing at the other dragon is reported to burn. All of this is player-reported and unverified.
Which green dragon should you choose, left or right?
Reports say both sides are viable. One fan tracker calls the choice a coin flip, with the same choice accepted in one run and burned in another, so there is no confirmed safe side.
Does staying neutral burn you with the two green dragons?
Two fan trackers report that staying neutral and letting the dragons decide ended in a burn. The scene text they quote warns that hesitation kills, which matches the canon rule never to back down from a green.
Does passing the two greens guarantee a green dragon?
No. Reports describe a follow-up question about your weakness afterwards, and players who passed the clearing report ending with green, orange, or brown dragons. Advancing past a screen is not the same as bonding.

What Is the Two Green Dragons Scene?

Early in a Dragonkind run, some players report a clearing where two green dragons wait in the middle of a field. Fan trackers describe the scene as one where the dragon on the left narrows its eyes, the one on the right growls, and the text warns that “Hesitation kills here — pick one and commit.” Everything on this page about that scene comes from those fan trackers and individual players. The game publishes no walkthrough, and the sample sizes are tiny.

What Should You Do With the Two Green Dragons?

The direct answer: pick one dragon, lower your eyes, turn toward it, and hold your ground. Do not stay neutral, and do not look at the other dragon. That is the pattern both trackers report. What they record for each choice:

Your choice in the clearing Reported outcome How many reports
Lower your eyes and turn toward one dragon, left or right The scene advances; the dragon you turned to can accept you, or the one you turned away from can take offense Both trackers; a few runs
Turn toward the left dragon, then hold completely still on the next screen Leads to a follow-up question about your weakness One reader, two runs
Lower your eyes but stay neutral and let them decide Burn Both trackers
Turn toward one dragon, then glance at the other Burn One tested run and one report

There is no confirmed safe side. One tracker records the same right-hand choice surviving in one run and burning in another and calls it a coin flip; the other tracker has no report at all for the right-hand dragon. If you have to guess, the reports give no reason to prefer either side. What they do agree on is that indecision is punished.

What Does Canon Say About Green Dragons?

The official Empyrean series site gives greens a two-part rule: “show submission by lowering your eyes and awaiting their approval. Never back down from a Green.” Our green dragon guide covers the rule, the Uaineloidsig and Cruaidhuaine lines, and the named riders.

The reported scene fits that logic. Every option the trackers list starts with lowered eyes, and the choices that reportedly burn are the passive or wavering ones. That is consistent with “never back down,” but it is our reading of player reports, not a confirmed design. How the book rule is meant to apply when two greens stand in your way is not documented anywhere we can verify.

What Happens After the Clearing?

Passing the clearing is not a bond. Reports describe a follow-up question about your weakness, and the exact wording is not on record. The few answers reported so far point in different directions:

  • One reader who described overextending themselves as their weakness reported a burn in one run.
  • One reader who admitted thinking they were right when they were wrong was bonded with an orange dragon in one run.
  • One player describes a green bond after the weakness question, with orange or brown dragons sometimes appearing instead.

Those are single reports, not formulas. The practical takeaway is that this route can end with a green, an orange, or a brown dragon, which matches the official FAQ’s statement that every color is possible.

What If You Burn at the Two Greens?

A burn here is the same as any other burn. The official FAQ says you can try again after a few hours and that there is no limit on attempts, and Parade reports a four-hour wait. Rebecca Yarros has said there is roughly a 10% chance of being incinerated on any attempt no matter what you choose, so a burn does not prove you made the wrong choice in the clearing. The full picture is in how to survive Threshing Day.
